When you post your questions

When you guys post your questions be sure to tell what assignment you are working on and what the question number is.  Also be sure to be specific questions.  I cannot respond to, "I don't know what to do?" because it is too vague.  Be sure to clarify what parts of the problem or question you are having trouble with.

  1. on the honors homework numbers 5 and 6 are we using the scale factor to muktiply the coordinates then graph those coordinates? And on number 7, how do we find the scale factor?

    ReplyDelete
  2. For questions 5 and 6 First plot the original points a,b,c,d. Then you can write a rule using the scale factor and apply it to the original points to get the new coordinates. Plot those too.

For number 7 I would look the distance between points A and C and then B and D. Then look at the distance between A' and C' and then B' and C'. Remember it is asking for the scale factor from the large figure to the small one.

  3. On the honors homework s.s inv 2.2, C1 & C2. How would you compare angles with side lengths? And What would you have to look for when finding if a certain hat is similar to Mug's hat?

  4. Chardonnay,
Don't compare angles to side lengths. Compare angles to angles and side lengths to side lengths. Make sure you are comparing the new hats back to mug's original hat. Remember what we said makes things similar, angles and a scale factor. you can look at the beginning of Inv. 2.3 to see what makes two figures similar.

  5. On the honors math homework S.S inv 2.2, D. How would you write rules similar to mugs hat?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Look at the rules that they give you that make similar figures and try to follow their examples. You can also look back at Inv. 2.1 and see which of those rules gave similar figures.

  8. On the honors math homework, S.S ACE pg. 30 problem 15. It says, "The given point is on the origanal polygon. Find the image of the point."
    What does that mean?

  9. Use the rule (x, 3/4y) on each point to figure out the new ones. Just like we did to create the new hats and mugs family

  14. Just to make sure, on the honors additional practice homework, on question 5, it says "Which recipe will be the sweetest?" Does the sugar make the recipe sweet? Or the bluberries? I think it's the sugar but I just want to make sure so I don't do the problem wrong.

  15. For pg 30 #15 look back at my post from September 18 at 4:54. Chardonnay had the same question.

With regards to the homework, yes it is the sugar that makes the recipe sweet.

  19. On the hw additional practice inv 2 pg 44 and 45 and 46 im a little confused on the front page questions 2b,c,d and on 3c

    ReplyDelete
  20. Madi you need to compare the three recipies to see which on is sweetest. I would suggest writing them as ratios and comparing the three to one another. This is very similar to the juice mix problem in CS Inv. 2.1.

    ReplyDelete
  21. For question 4c don't worry about how the area is 24. Just imagine that it is 24. If you know that you can use the ratios you wrote for a and b to help you figure out the area of the trapezoid and triangle.

  22. Julissa and anonymous,
Question 2 is all about comparing Microns to Centimeters. Remember that they tell you
1 meter = 1,000,000 microns. Use the fact that 1meter = 100 centimeters to find how many microns equal 1 centimeter. Also remember
1 micron =.000001 meters. Let me know if you have more questions.
