When you guys post your questions be sure to tell what assignment you are working on and what the question number is. Also be sure to be specific questions. I cannot respond to, "I don't know what to do?" because it is too vague. Be sure to clarify what parts of the problem or question you are having trouble with.
on the honors homework numbers 5 and 6 are we using the scale factor to muktiply the coordinates then graph those coordinates? And on number 7, how do we find the scale factor?
ReplyDeleteFor questions 5 and 6 First plot the original points a,b,c,d. Then you can write a rule using the scale factor and apply it to the original points to get the new coordinates. Plot those too.
ReplyDeleteFor number 7 I would look the distance between points A and C and then B and D. Then look at the distance between A' and C' and then B' and C'. Remember it is asking for the scale factor from the large figure to the small one.
On the honors homework s.s inv 2.2, C1 & C2. How would you compare angles with side lengths? And What would you have to look for when finding if a certain hat is similar to Mug's hat?
ReplyDeleteChardonnay,
ReplyDeleteDon't compare angles to side lengths. Compare angles to angles and side lengths to side lengths. Make sure you are comparing the new hats back to mug's original hat. Remember what we said makes things similar, angles and a scale factor. you can look at the beginning of Inv. 2.3 to see what makes two figures similar.
On the honors math homework S.S inv 2.2, D. How would you write rules similar to mugs hat?
ReplyDeleteLook at the rules that they give you that make similar figures and try to follow their examples. You can also look back at Inv. 2.1 and see which of those rules gave similar figures.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your help.
ReplyDeleteNo problem
ReplyDeleteOn the honors math homework, S.S ACE pg. 30 problem 15. It says, "The given point is on the origanal polygon. Find the image of the point."
ReplyDeleteWhat does that mean?
Use the rule (x, 3/4y) on each point to figure out the new ones. Just like we did to create the new hats and mugs family
ReplyDeleteHi I missed most of 6th period...did we have any homework over the weekend? -Kate
ReplyDeleteNo just work on any missing, incomplete, or redos that you may have.
ReplyDeleteMay I come in the morning to ask you a question on one thing? -Kate
ReplyDeleteI will be there by 7:45
ReplyDeletein honers math pg 30 questin 15 says 'Find the image of the point.' which makes no sence at all
ReplyDeleteJust to make sure, on the honors additional practice homework, on question 5, it says "Which recipe will be the sweetest?" Does the sugar make the recipe sweet? Or the bluberries? I think it's the sugar but I just want to make sure so I don't do the problem wrong.
ReplyDeleteFor pg 30 #15 look back at my post from September 18 at 4:54. Chardonnay had the same question.
ReplyDeleteWith regards to the homework, yes it is the sugar that makes the recipe sweet.
I dont what to do on question 5 on the honors home work for this week.
ReplyDeletehow would the area for number c.4 and the honors homework be 24 square units for the hexagon?
ReplyDeleteOn question 2 b and c for the additional practice for honors math, I'm a little confused on how to get the answer.....
ReplyDeleteOn the hw additional practice inv 2 pg 44 and 45 and 46 im a little confused on the front page questions 2b,c,d and on 3c
ReplyDeleteMadi you need to compare the three recipies to see which on is sweetest. I would suggest writing them as ratios and comparing the three to one another. This is very similar to the juice mix problem in CS Inv. 2.1.
ReplyDeleteFor question 4c don't worry about how the area is 24. Just imagine that it is 24. If you know that you can use the ratios you wrote for a and b to help you figure out the area of the trapezoid and triangle.
ReplyDeleteJulissa and anonymous,
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2 is all about comparing Microns to Centimeters. Remember that they tell you
1 meter = 1,000,000 microns. Use the fact that 1meter = 100 centimeters to find how many microns equal 1 centimeter. Also remember
1 micron =.000001 meters. Let me know if you have more questions.
I noticed in period 6 that pg. 90 (homework) wasn't passed out. Should we print it at home or are you going to pass it out tomorrow?

ReplyDeleteGUESS WHO THIS IS! say hi to pier for me!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi, I was gone on friday what should I do to make up my work? -Kate
ReplyDeleteCould you also help me with B.1? I'm confused on what shapes to find the scale factor to. Kate
ReplyDeleteYour original shapes to their reptiles.
ReplyDeleteOn S.S 3.1 and 3.2 to extend figures do you just add more figures to the rep-tiles.
ReplyDeletekate
That's correct. Be sure the extended figures are similar to the original.
ReplyDeletecan you help me take my test that i got a redo on if u can can i take it tomorow thank you
ReplyDeleteIf you can come in in the morning we can discuss it then. If not can you come in after school. Be sure to bring the original so we can discuss what mistakes you made.

ReplyDeleteAlso how do you find angles just blank angles without measuring them? Are we allowed to measure them with a protractor? Or do we use the scale factor. Kate -thanks
ReplyDeleteKate for think about area how much bigger is the area of the figure?
ReplyDeleteAngles in a triangle add up to 180 degrees and 360 degrees in the parallelogram.
Also please post to the new weekly posts. Thanks.
ReplyDeletemr.toombs for the math study guide homework it says that the place values to the______have a lager value
ReplyDeletei said that the place values to the left have larger values would that be right because the whole numbers of cores are usaly big and usaly the closer the tenths are biger than the hunderths sooooo........... would that be right?

mathison
That is correct also please place comments on the new Math 7 post this list is getting very long.

ReplyDeleteon honors hwk pgs 44 question 2
ReplyDeletewhat rectangle cause its askin wat if u put 9 rectangles to make a larger simialr rectangle???
For honors homework, on 1. a it says if the rectangles are similar to the original. For the first question, there is two small rectangles and two bigger one's inside the original. You can draw seperate lines to make similar rectangles but are we suppose to look at the problem as it is and not draw seperate lines or anything??
ReplyDeleteLook at the ones that are drawn. Which of the smaller quadrilaterals are similar to the large ones they are used to create.
ReplyDeletei wasnt here today does honors have hw and if so what is it
ReplyDeletedaisy
Yea it is a hand out. I forgot to update the homework page today. I will do it first thing in the morning. Don't worry about it.
ReplyDeletelets say that there are two triangles that have a sf but have different shapes and angles.... are they still similar?
ReplyDeleteWhat is required for two shapes to be similar?
ReplyDeleteOn the back side of the honors area practice homework, are we supposed to find perimeter too, or just area for #1-12?
ReplyDeleteOn the practice homework on the back, what formula do we use to get the length of the bottom side of the triangle?
ReplyDeleteOn number 8?

On pg 54 hw on number 17 is that alright if i said that the prism had the most popcorn per dollar because it had the biggest volume?
ReplyDeleteOn the Hw Skill: Similar Figures pg26 #5 to do the coordinates with the scale factor do you just double all of the coordinates, so like for letter a would it be 4,-4?
ReplyDeleteon the hw pg27 #2 a and b the last part says is each smaller triangle similar to the original. Is it talking about the triangle with the base and the height of 2 cm or just any triangle?
ReplyDeleteOn filling and wrapping pg 25 1-25 how do you find the dimensions for a volume of 80 cubic inches but has a surface area less than 132
